Roller bed resaws

Advanced design secondary machines for sawmills

Stenner's range of roller bed resaws is designed for use where space restrictions and low labour costs are prime considerations.

The latest technology has been used to minimise manual timber handling, reduce operator fatigue and maintain a high percentage of cutting time.

Accurate, quality cutting is ensured by the robust 'vibration-free' construction combined with the powerful and effective pneumatic sawblade straining system and pressure sawguides, with the tensioned wide bandsaw blade resulting in narrow saw kerf and therefore increased yield.

Heavy-duty cast iron pulleys give long service life between resurfacing, with cleaning fluid automatically delivered to the pad and scraper system to control of resin and sawdust build-up on the pulleys and the blade.

When used as a conventional resaw, timber is controlled by a roller fence and powered vertical feed rollers on a power driven roller bed. Edging operations are performed with the fence and feed rollers retracted.

There is an extended fence for pre-alignment of timber, and hydraulically operated pusher arms to position timber against the fence and alignment stops. This combination enables heavy timber sections to be moved and aligned with ease. All models have power return for through and through sawing.

VBT105 - a heavy-duty single unit secondary wide band resaw capable of precision sawing of squares, cants, slabs and boards as well as edging operations, with an hydraulically-operated radial arm that provides constant pressure on unsawn surfaces.

VBTT105 - as above but with twin saw units, one fixed and one moving, designed for use where high production output is required since two cuts can be made in a single pass.

VBV120 - a heavy-duty wide band resaw with one, two or three moving saw units, a fully flexible twin radial arm that is pneumatically-operated and cushioned and quickly controlled, easily maintained remachinable pressure sawguides as standard, and equipped with board, cant and flitch turners.

Sawguides
Low friction pressure sawguides of either a disposable or remachinable design provide the excellent blade stability required for accurate cutting. Remachinable sawguides are fitted as standard on the VBV120.

Sawblade & Pulley cleaning
These machines are fitted with a solenoid-controlled drip feed system with automatic cut-off to provide the correct flow of cleaning fluid to lubricate the felt pads. In tandem with scrapers fitted to the pulleys, the felt pads ensure the cleanliness of both the pulleys and the sawblade.

Saw straining
Strain is applied to the sawblade by a pneumatic cylinder, which applies force via a linkage when the lever is operated. It is fast and flexible in operation, with rapid reaction to shock loads. For safety purposes a low-pressure switch is incorporated, which automatically removes power to the main drive motor power (so the machine stops running) if pressure drops to an unsatisfactory level.
